John EnriqueSenior Full-Stack Engineer

Nine years shipping web systems end to end — and proving it in public: open source that other people run, a Rust fiscal toolchain I maintain, and 12 PRs merged into NestJS core.

TypeScript · React / Next.js · Rust · Node · PostgreSQL · AI agents

Code you can verify, not claims.

fiscal-rs

Maintainer · Rust toolchain for Brazilian e-invoicing (NF-e)

A Rust port of sped-nfe (the most-used Brazilian fiscal library, 2,400+★ in PHP), released on crates.io and npm — the Node package ships native N-API bindings for seven platforms, published via OIDC trusted publishing with signed SLSA provenance. I review and merge community contributions and coordinate every release.

FinOpenPOS

Open-source point of sale with a full Brazilian fiscal module

A complete POS — products, customers, orders, cashier — plus NF-e/NFC-e electronic invoicing: tax engine (ICMS/PIS/COFINS/IPI), XML digital signature, SEFAZ integration over mTLS, contingency modes. Next.js 16, React 19, tRPC v11, Drizzle and embedded PostgreSQL via PGLite — zero external dependencies to run.

rust-agent-sdk

Rust port of Anthropic's claude-agent-sdk

Drives the Claude CLI as a subprocess over the stream-json protocol, with full session management: fork, resume, transcript import, incremental summaries, and a pluggable SessionStore — in-memory, Postgres and Redis — all passing one shared conformance suite, validated against real databases.

Upstream contributions

Merged PRs in NestJS core and sped-nfe

Twelve pull requests merged into NestJS, approved by the framework's maintainer — plus PR #1313 into sped-nfe: 370 tests that took the PHP library's coverage from 40% to 86.5% while I ported it to Rust.

  • NestJS: 12 merged PRs
  • sped-nfe: +370 tests upstream

02 — Case study

What maintaining looks like

The strongest proof isn't a repo — it's what happens when other people start depending on one. fiscal-rs began as a port I wrote alone; today the community extends it and my job is to hold the line.

01

16 PRs triaged, 11 merged

Community contributions across MDF-e, CT-e and NFS-e — reviewed, tested locally and shipped in coordinated crates.io releases.

02

A security bar, held

Review blocked a symlink attack via predictable temp dirs and a panic on legacy A1 certificates — both reproduced before requesting changes.

03

A 3-release-old bug, caught

The npm package had shipped broken since 0.7.0 and nobody noticed — there was no real consumer. I installed it, found it, fixed it, and moved publishing to OIDC with signed SLSA provenance.

Every claim above is public — the pull requests, the releases, the provenance log.
